What is MediCann?

MediCann is an organization of integrated medical clinics committed to providing a stress-free, holistic environment where patients in need of medicinal marijuana receive a cost-effective, expert evaluation by a licensed medical professional. Qualified patients receive a physician's recommendation allowing them the legal use of Medical Marijuana under California Proposition 215, also known as the California Compassionate Use Act of 1996 Health and Safety Code Section 11362.5, and under SB420, section 11362.7.



How do I make an appointment at a MediCann clinic?

Contact MediCann at 1-866-632-6627.



Does MediCann accept insurance?

MediCann does not accept insurance. Patients that are Veterans or have a MediCal or MediCare card will receive a discounted price.



Do I need to be referred to MediCann?

No. MediCann accepts all potential patients for evaluation.



What happens when I visit a MediCann clinic?

Patients fill out a medical history form, provide a valid California ID, pay the MediCann fee and then receive an evaluation. Patients that qualify receive a physician's recommendation.



What form of ID do I need to bring to my evaluation?

Patients must provide a valid California state-issued ID. Patients who do not have a California I.D. must bring a picture I.D with a print out from the California DMV.



What medical documentation should I bring to my evaluation?

Patients should bring written documentation, including their diagnosis, the name, address, phone number and fax number of their primary healthcare provider.



What if I have never seen a physician about my condition?

MediCann provides a list of free clinics on its website. We also accept paperwork from alternative medical practitioners.



Does MediCann provide any other services beside medicinal marijuana evaluations?

MediCann is expanding our suite of services to provide recommendations, education and educational materials for alternative therapies and practices.



What do I receive specifically, when I’m issued a physician's recommendation for medicinal marijuana?

Patients who receive a legal physician's recommendation will recieve the signed original recommendation as well as an ID card representing the recommendation.



How long does a physician's recommendation last?

MediCann physician's recommendations are on a per case basis with a term limit of one year.



If I receive a recommendation will I have to return to MediCann after my intial appointment?

MediCann advises qualified patients to contact us for a re-evaluation of their physician's recommendation prior to the expiration of their recommendation.



What happens with the information I give to MediCann?

MediCann prizes confidentiality for all our patients, and thus keeps medical records strictly confidential. MediCann closely follows the Federal Doctor-Patient Confidentiality (HIPPA) laws. Patient records will only be disclosed at the written request of the patient.



Are MediCann clinics wheelchair accessible?

Excluding San Jose, all our locations are wheelchair accessible.



At what age can I get an evaluation at MediCann?

Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.



Can MediCann evaluate me to become a medical marijuana caregiver?

Yes. Patients must have disabilities that require care giving and bring their designated caregivers with them to their evaluation.



What happens if I do not pass my MediCann evaluation?

If the doctor does not evaluate your condition as treatable by medical marijuana they will not write a recommendation. The MediCann fee is for an evaluation, not a recommendation. Patients that do not qualify still must pay the full evaluation fee.
